2015 DHL Toyota
LAS VEGAS, (Oct. 31, 2014) – Kalitta Motorsports, the nitro-fueled, four-car NHRA drag racing team based in Ypsilanti, Mich., is bringing a special treat to debut this Friday, Halloween, at the 14th Annual NHRA Toyota Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Del Worsham and the DHL team will take to the drag strip in Las Vegas with the 10,000-horsepower, new-look 2015 DHL Toyota Camry Funny Car, which features significant changes to the “grill” and “headlight” areas on the front of the race car to better mimic the newly redesigned 2015 Toyota Camry. Subtle graphic changes can be seen throughout the still mostly bright yellow and red racer.

Alexis DeJoria and her Patrón XO Café Toyota Camry Funny Car team are also introducing their new-look, hot pink-enhanced Patrón XO Café Toyota Camry Funny Car in recognition of Breast Cancer Awereness Month in competition in Las Vegas.

For the first time in the NHRA’s Countdown to the Championship “playoffs” era, all four Team Kalitta drivers and teams will have the opportunity to race for the Mello Yello Drag Racing Series points championship in their respective classes. All four Team Kalitta race cars finished in the top 10 in Mello Yello championship points during the “regular season” to qualify for the six-event Countdown to the Championship, which began in Charlotte in September.

All four Team Kalitta racers are currently in the top eight in Mello Yello Countdown to the Championship points in their respective classes with Doug Kalitta, driver of the Mac Tools Top Fuel dragster, leading the charge for Kalitta Motorsports in the No. 2 points position in Top Fuel, 134 points behind the leader.

Team Kalitta nitro race cars have six event wins and have appeared in a team-record 20 championship rounds so far in the 24-event 2014 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule of events this year.
